Metering including Smart Metering (AMR)

Many organisations that are multi-sited have a very dynamic portfolio of electricity, gas and water supply points. The management of this portfolio can at times be very time consuming and confusing in the evolving energy markets.
Now that the metering activities have been unbundled in the UK many companies have opted to appoint their own meter operator (MOP), data aggregator (DA) and data collector (DC).
The management of the operations above requires a level of expertise not normally available to organisations internally. Blizzard Utilities can provide this level of expertise and our management service will provide ensure that the most appropriate meter operators are selected for its clients, run periodic tender programs and ensure that data generated from the meters is accurate, timely and cost effective.
Where appropriate, Blizzard will undertake to manage a clients AMR program, to include the sourcing, installation and ongoing management of the metering equipment. Smart Meters communicate consumption and other data via telecommunications links to a data collection centre at predetermined intervals and which can be loaded into Blizzard’s energy management system for invoice validation, monitoring and reporting.
Blizzard believes that all clients should aim to upgrade to smart metering, as part of a program to improve controls over energy consumption and expenditure which can be tracked by individual supply points.
In addition Blizzard can also assist in the installation of new electricity, gas and water supply points, including managing the project from the appointment of a contractor to install the wires and supply equipment, obtaining meter reference numbers through to supplying and installing the metering equipment. Blizzard will undertake the final connection and commissioning of the supply point.
Blizzard will also undertake the de-energisation of redundant supply points, including the removal of redundant metering equipment and wires where necessary.
